So far, we have screened approximately 10,000 children, teachers, and school nurses.Needy chidren are referred to our club by the school nurses of the Shawnee Mission, Blue Valley, and Olathe school districts. We coordinate obtaining vouchers from the state of Kansas to assist with in-depth examinations and glasses.
In addition we provide eye exams and glasses via the Kansas University Medical Center's Ophthalmology Department for local individuals in need.
- Metcalf Avenue of Flags
We raise over 350 flags along Metcalf Avenue 6 times a year. We do this as a patriotic service to our community and as a fund raiser for our service activites. Local Boy Scouts, members of the Military Officers of America Association and Hy-Vee employees assist us with the raising and lowering of the flags. - Kansas State School for the Blind (KSSB)
Funds were raised to create a $120,000 endowment fund to provide track and field programs to children attending KSSB. Club members volunteer to assist with the running of multi-state track meets. We have just launched a new program to help fund an Assistive Technology Loan Library. - Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead
